This 40-hour specialized program is designed to prepare current Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs) to become Home Health Aides.

Preparation includes classroom instruction and supervised clinical training within the California State Department of Public Health Services guidelines. Focus includes care in residential settings, home safety, and specific patient needs outside of the hospital environment.

Admission Requirements

  • Must have a current CNA License
  • Must be at least 16 years old
  • Valid California ID and Social Security Number
  • Negative TB skin test or chest X-Ray & Physical Exam
  • Live Scan fingerprinting clearance
  • Proof of Professional Liability & Medical Insurance

Certification & Career Outlook

Upon completing the program and the requisite 40 hours of training, students acquire the skills necessary to provide services to residents in homes or residential care facilities.

  • Graduation Requirement: Successful completion of 40 hours + BLS/CPR Certification.
  • Testing Authority: Testing is conducted directly by the state-approved program director at the College.
  • Outcome: California State License to practice as a Home Health Aide.
